Progress on my Ringling 100 submission

I'm doing an illustration for the Ringling 100 book. It's this collection of works by only Ringling students and alumni that's being headed up by Greg Hettinger and Scott Zitta. 100 students, 100 pieces. I'm not sure how far along it is but I'm hoping I can get into it. How sweet would it be to be published? :D

It's judged by a panel of teachers I believe, so it can remain impartial. Here's hoping my stuff will be good enough for them :X Anyways, here's where I am so far...still doing the linework. I'm going for a graphic novel feel and seeing where I can take it from there. I'm planning on making lots of use of textures and a bit of bloom if I can figure out how not to make it obvious. But yeah, the theme we're all supposed to follow is "Waking the Giants". I call mine, "Giants Waking Up" :P

It's that time again

Well it's been about 7 months, so you know what time it is? Time for a new post! Woot! So yeah, I'm still looking for a job and following up some leads. Mostly fixing website and portfolio issues right now. Yaaaaaaay. So yeah, got my first student loan bill in the mail today...for 53 smackeroos. Nothing compared to what I'll be getting come November. Ohhhh man. So yeah, I'd like a job please :)

Here's a painting I did over the last few days. Just some practice with Photoshop cause I'm feeling a bit rusty. Still trying to get the hang of things.

An average of 7 months per post

Whoooo, now that's quite a while. Anywho, I'm taking Children's Book Ill right now and it's a blast. I wuvs it cause I get to draw again and the class feels like such a stress reliever right now. I miss the feeling of a pencil pressed up against a piece of paper. Oh if only I could do it over...I'd be an illustrator.

Hopefully I can get some of my stuff into the display case in CJ this week. Whee!

I'm also planning to make a webcomic next semester which should be fun. It'll be doubly awesome since I'll be taking an independent study with Gary Barker where I'll make the webcomic :D. I need more artses to show.

Art Dump!

I've neglected this thing quite a bit :(. I need more postworthy stuff. I'm hoping to get some more stuff done over summer break. Mostly lighting studies, photos, landscape paintings and the like. But I'm also hoping for an internship so it's gonna be sparse. Here's some stuff I've been painting lately. I really want to go into a more cartoony stylized style(yay redundancy!). But I still love painting outdoors. Here's to hoping my next post won't take 7 months!

My self caricature!

Old DFA painting that I kinda liked.

This one was inspired by Kristin's style and palette.

I R teh DFA

Lesse...5 months without a post. It's time for another! I have way too many online blogs/journals that I have to update o.o. I always forget that I have this little guy! Anyways, DFA is busting my ass cause I can't render things as well as other people can. It's so far removed from a pencil :(. Anyways, here's a sneak peek for the assignment due Monday!

Now to make a Flying Space Bison aka Appa ripoff.

First post in a loooong time

Ok, so this blog has been pretty neglected thus far. So, I've been convinced to upload a few goodies I've been working on here at Ringling. There'll be more over the summer...I promise! But in the meantime, here's my Sit/Stand project that we just finished up.

I can't wait for summer! Gonna finally be able to bust out some pencils and do...stuff. I think I forgot how to use them.

First post!

Hey all! My name's Anthony Tso and I'm a student here at the Ringling School of Art and Design in sunny Sarasota, Florida. I started up this blog so I could have a place to host animation work and other pieces of art I've created during my stay here. It'll also be sort of a personal project, seeing how I'll evolve over the years.

Oh who am I kidding? I'm just hopping on the bandwagon. But in the meantime, I might as well add some artwork every now and then ;). I might even write about how I came to want to study animation. But, that's for another day. This blog will be different from my LJ one, cause we all know livejournal is *the* place to go for angst :D. Nothing but the goods here!

Till then, cheers!
